Beach Day Trip to Westhaven State Park

This past weekend Washington had lovely summer weather, if your like most people who live here sun is hard to come by. So when the weather is nice you will find people seeking the beach. My sister and I happened to be kid free with not much to do. Saturday morning we both woke up with the cost on our minds and the strong urge to feel sand between our toes.

So we packed up a beach bag, lunch and our new puppy Gizmo (he is a 10 week old Havanese). I got online to see what is the closest access to the costal line and beach. I found Westhaven State Park in Westport,Wa located 2 hours 26 minutes from Seattle,Wa 132 miles away. A day trip to the beach it is! The drive to Westport is gorgeous taking I-5S to US 101S.

This drive in itself can be a trip to see, we live in such a breathtaking and scenic place. I always feel when I travel this direction closer to God. You can breath out here the air is fresh, the animals are peaceful and it just lets you enjoy all the beauty around. As you driving down the road to enter Westhaven state park you can see sand dunes and can smell the ocean but can't see it yet. There is gravel parking. The park has a fee a day pass for $10 or you can buy an annual pass for $30.

I would strongly like to encourage people that like to visit our state parks to get the annual pass follow the link: http://www.parks.wa.gov/discoverpass/. The Discover Pass allows you to enjoy millions of acres of Washington state-managed recreation lands – including state parks, water-access points, heritage sites, wildlife and natural areas, trails and trailheads. The Discover Pass must be displayed on your vehicle when visiting state recreation lands managed by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW). The fine for not displaying the pass is $99.(info from wa parks website)

We had lunch then ventured off over the sand dunes to explore the beach. There is a trail from the parking lot up a slope. The slope/path takes you to the top of a cliff, standing there you can turn your head and see ocean all around. Check out my video on Instagram @tishas_creations you can the exact spot I am talking about. Also check out @a4laa on Instagram to see the other videos my sister posted from the beach. http://instagram.com/p/buGq2As6e4/

At first I was a bit scared to try and walk down to the beach but the sand is so soft it sinks your foot in enough to walk down on. It's just feels like walking down stairs. Walking down the cliff to the beach shore is so cool it's like walking to a wall of water. You can see soft white/black fine sand for miles down the beach with the next layer being wet sand that looks like cement, sand dollars are everywhere. Right behind that is the water rows of waves of white, greens and blues.

People where surfing, playing in the sand, swimming, exploring the beach. I love this place! The best part is its not over crowed like a lot of the beaches in the city and that's another reason it's so peaceful out here. There is so much space you can have your own area of the beach. The first thing I thought when seeing all of this beauty, well its more like the thing I think all the time when I am in front of scenic beauty.

That this would be a good place to ask someone to spend the rest of your life with. The ocean on a sunny day is something you have to see for yourself. Even with people around its like being somewhere untouched by human hands or destruction. Closer to God or whoever you credit for making the earth.

We traveled back up the sand stair case to the top of the cliff to go down on the other side where you can see rocks and little tide pools in between them. Walking down the other side to the beach shore you come cross what can only be called a crab grave yard. Big ones little ones you can tell the birds don't play here about eating crabs. If you walk over to where the big rocks are you will see where the waves come up and make tide pools in between the rocks.

I was on a mission to find a starfish somewhere along the rocks. I only found a baby crab and a bunch of hermit crabs, saw a big one and a bunch of little ones. I was not able to get a pictures since climbing on the rocks I could not hold my phone. After being in the sun and climbing up and down sand stairs, it was time to go.

We left and heading back to Seattle but before leaving the area we stopped at the gas station with a subway in it. Right next door was a thrift store called Eclectic Treasures & Thrift Store. I love thrift store shopping " I am going pop some Tags" lol. We explored the shop and found some interesting finds.

I got some sunglasses, a hand mirror, flower burning oil candle thing, and a card with an angle on it to write my mommy a letter. All for $6 and that's what I love about the thrift store, retro finds on the dime!
My sister Aleisha got a spray bottle, some thread to use for her Halloween costume, a pin and a picture with a crab on it, she's a cancer so she was happy to find it. She also only paid $6 for her finds. shopping was a good way to end a nice trip to the beach.

Just want to say thank you to all our followers Emerald City Sister's love all the support you have been showing us, we are thankful. We are ever so blessed to reach so many people out in this world. Thanks again love Tisha <3 http://instagram.com/p/buHlKDjZcP/
